Details: The US representative noted that the Russian Federation slows down the inspection of ships, which is why dozens of them are waiting for departure and checks, to be able to deliver their grain cargo.

She noted that the Black Sea Grain Initiative provides for the transportation of 5 million tonnes of food per month. However, the actions of the Russian Federation lead to constant delays, most of which are intended for developing countries.

The US Ambassador says that currently, 2.5 million tonnes of grain are just waiting for shipment, and some ships have been idle for more than a month.

It is added that in this regard, she appealed to other members of the UN Security Council to call on Russia to immediately expand cooperation within the Black Sea Agreement.

Background: As part of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the first million tonnes of Ukrainian agricultural products in 2023 were shipped from Ukrainian ports to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe.

At the same time, 5 vessels are moving along the "grain corridor" for loading. 104 vessels are waiting for the inspection of the Joint Coordination Centre in the Bosporus Strait.
