Ukraine to receive first tranche of €18 billion macrofinancial aid from EU this week

Details: This week, Ukraine will receive the first part of the macro-financial assistance package from the EU totaling €18 billion.

Quote: "Honoured to sign MoU on behalf of the EU to provide Ukraine with EU financing in 2023 – up to €18 bln in loans. First payment of €3 bln to follow later this week. This will help Ukraine cover its pressing needs – with stable flow of payments throughout year," Dombrovskis said.

Details: EU Ambassador Matti Maasikas said that this would be the first tranche of international financial assistance for Ukraine in 2023.

Previously: The decision on this aid package was made with numerous difficulties; in mid-December EU leaders finally reached an agreement on it.
