"Victory is necessary for both Ukraine and Germany": joint address of ambassadors in Berlin and Kyiv

The Ambassador of Germany to Ukraine and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany recorded an address to the 31st anniversary of diplomatic relations between the states, in which they emphasised the role of cooperation between the two countries for the victory of Ukraine and peace restoration.

Details: Oleksii Makeiev, Ambassador of Ukraine, recorded his part of the address from Berlin and spoke in German, and Anka Feldhusen, Ambassador of Germany, [recorded her part – ed.] from Kyiv in Ukrainian.

Quote: "The aim of our current partnership is to restore peace in Europe... We are grateful to Germany for its support, we stand together for peace and our future," Oleksii Makeiev said.

"Victory is currently needed by both Ukraine and Germany, which not only provides humanitarian, military and economic support, but is always with Ukraine with its heart and soul... We are grateful to Ukrainian people who fight for their freedom and stand in defence of freedom and democracy in Europe every day," Anka Feldhusen said.

The ambassadors conclude their address with the phrase "We will win together."

Background: Last week, Annalena Baerbock, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, travelled to the city of Kharkiv. During the visit, she announced 20 million euros of financial aid for Ukraine to pay for the Starlink satellite connection service.

This week, during a visit to The Hague, she discussed ways to hold the top leadership of the Russian Federation accountable for the war started against Ukraine.
