Head of Ukrainian President's Office says issue of long-range weapons and fighter jets for Ukraine is resolved, later changes his message

Andrii Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has said that the supply of long-range weapons and fighter jets to Ukraine by international partners is a done deal. However, later, Yermak changed his message to "can be resolved".

Update: After some time, the quote in Yermak's message was changed as follows: "The issue of long-range weapons and fighter jets for Ukraine seems like it can be resolved."

Background:

  • The President of Ukraine arrived in Brussels together with French President Emmanuel Macron on 9 February to address the European Parliament and participate in the EU summit.
  • The day before, Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an unannounced visit to London, where he addressed Westminster, met with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and King Charles III, and visited the Ukrainian military at training.
  • Zelenskyy also visited Paris to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron on the evening of 8 February.
