Details: Kirby has pointed out the Pentagon's recent statement that some of Wagner's fighters are still in Ukraine, but "it's not clear how many or what they're up to".

"We don't have perfect visibility here on where Mr. Prigozhin is or where all of his fighters are," he added.

Background: Last weekend, the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, started and then cancelled a mutiny over criticism of the Russian military leadership. After an agreement with self-proclaimed Belarusian President Lukashenko, Prigozhin travelled to Belarus.

Following this, the foreign ministers of two Baltic states on Tuesday called on NATO to strengthen its eastern borders in response to the deployment of militants from the Wagner Group in Belarus.

Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the relocation of the Wagner Group to Belarus is a very negative signal for his country.
