Zelenskyy thanked the US for providing cluster munitions, even though many people in the US were opposed to the provision of such weapons.
At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine still needs long-range weapons.
"We need long-range weapons, this shortage persists, and I will be asking this question," he said.
Zelenskyy added that he and President Biden will also discuss Ukraine's NATO membership at the meeting. He noted that he won't need to look for any reasons to convince the US president of the necessity of supporting Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.
"This is the security of Eastern Europe. The Alliance needs us no less than the other way around," he said, adding that he was convinced that Ukraine would join NATO after the war.
Background:
- A "quiet" debate is reported to be going on within the Biden administration about whether to send long-range tactical missile systems (ATACMS) to Ukraine.
- It has also been reported that the United States is close to making a decision to provide Ukraine with ATACMS.
