The uniform testing lasted a month; it was presented to the Defence Ministry in early July.
Quote: "The sample of the summer field uniform for our female military personnel is undergoing proper procedures within the stated time frame. The technical specification and the standard sample have been approved. Therefore, the relevant procurement and supply procedures to the troops will be initiated in the near future," Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said.
Reznikov said that the manufacturer of women's uniforms considered all the wishes and comments of the servicewomen who participated in its testing.
Not all NATO member states have an approved women's uniform, Reznikov says. For example, women have been allowed to serve in the army since 1948 in the USA, and uniforms began to be implemented only in 2009. It took another two years to create a uniform, considering all anthropological parameters.
"In the Israeli army, where women have been serving mandatory military service for more than 50 years, not every unit even issues women's uniforms. So we can safely say that we are among the leaders," Oleksii Reznikov added.
Apart from that, the minister reported that work on introducing women's body armour continues.
"There are already the first samples of female-fitting body armour. They are being studied for compliance with the technical specification. After all the relevant tests and approvals, standard samples of body armour will be approved. Ultimately, our women defenders will have the opportunity to receive not only field uniforms but also personal protective equipment in accordance with their anthropometric data," Oleksii Reznikov said.
- The unified women's uniform in the Armed Forces was first discussed in July 2022.
- Volunteers began its construction in the fall of 2022, and by the end of the year, testing had already begun.
