Details: In total, at least five regiments of Russian Airborne Forces from the 7th and 76th divisions are now likely to be concentrated a few kilometres from the front line village of Robotyne.
UK intelligence said this group should have about 10,000 elite paratroopers at full strength. However, almost all these units are likely faced with a significant lack of personnel.
Russian Airborne Forces’ command will most likely consider the current situation extremely unsatisfactory.
Throughout the war, the Russian command has tried to restore the Airborne Forces as a highly mobile strike force used for offensive operations. However, near Robotyne they are being used as infantry to reinforce overburdened ground troops.
Background: UK Defence Intelligence previously reported that Russian forces are stepping up their defence of the strategically important city of Tokmak in Zaporizhzhia Oblast in order to prepare for a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
