Rescue operation in Zaporizhzhia complete: 5 killed, 5 injured

A search and rescue operation at the site of a Russian missile attack on a 5-storey residential building in Zaporizhzhia has been completed.

Quote: "Search operations have been completed overnight in Zaporizhzhia at the site of a missile attack on a residential 5-storey building. In total, 5 people were killed, and 5 more were injured." 

Background

  • On the night of Wednesday, 18 October, between 01:33 and 01:48, the Russians fired six S-300 missiles at Zaporizhzhia.
  • One missile hit a high-rise building, destroying the interfloor structure of the entrance from the second to the fourth floor. Nearby residential buildings and vehicles were damaged by the missile pieces and the blast wave.
  • With two other rockets, the Russian forces aimed at the territory of industrial facilities, one more at a private family home. The house and outbuildings were damaged by the blast wave and debris. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
  • In the evening, there were reports of 5 dead and 5 wounded as a result of an attack on a residential building.
