Latvian president shares photo of himself in Kyiv shelter during massive drone attack

Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs, who is currently visiting Ukraine, stayed in a shelter on the night of 24-25 November as Kyiv was subjected to a massive Russian drone attack.

Background: 

• Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs arrived in Ukraine on a surprise visit on 24 November.
• Rinkēvičs said he had visited several facilities in Chernihiv Oblast that have been rebuilt with the help of Latvian funds, as well as meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussing bilateral relations and support from the EU and NATO.
• At a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Rinkēvičs expressed confidence that despite the opposition of individual member states, the European Union will eventually make decisions that are all positive for Ukraine.
• Earlier, Rinkēvičs said that EU and NATO countries must increase their defence industry capacities in order to produce the amount of weapons needed for themselves and for Ukraine.
