General Staff officially announces found bugs in Commander-in-Chief's office

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has officially announced that bugging devices have been discovered in the offices of Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi and his staff.

Details: The General Staff stated that on 17 December, during a routine inspection of the premises, elements of equipment for capturing information were found in one of the locations.

The listening devices were installed in the offices of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and employees on his staff.

It is noted that the Security Service of Ukraine was notified in order to establish the circumstances of the incident, its consequences and the persons involved.

Background

  • On 17 December, Ukrainska Pravda sources reported that bugging devices had been found in the offices of Valerii Zaluzhnyi and some of his staff. The rooms were supposed to be the new office of the Commander-in-Chief, which was being checked before the move.
  • The Security Service of Ukraine stated that a technical device, which was not in working order, had been found in one of the potential locations for Valerii Zaluzhnyi’s office. Law enforcement officers opened a criminal investigation.
