In the first round, Tsurenko, the world's No. 33 tennis player, secured a hard-earned victory over Italian Lucia Bronzetti in three sets (3:6, 7:5, 6:3).

Thus, the Ukrainian repeated her personal record at the Australian Open – for the second time in her career, she reached the third round of the competition. She played at this stage in Melbourne in 2013, when she lost to Caroline Wozniacki.

Her next opponent will be Arina Sabalenka, the current Australian Open champion and the world's No.2 tennis player. In the history of face-to-face meetings, both tennis players have won one match each.
