The residents of the town of Podolsk in Moscow Oblast have been without heat for three days due to an accident on the heating pipeline of a local ammunition plant.

Details: Reportedly, on 4 January a heating pipe broke in Podolsk as a result of improper operation by employees of the Klimovsk Specialized Ammunition Plant.

Due to this, residential buildings, as well as medical, educational and pre-school facilities have been without heat and hot water for several days.

State of emergency was announced in the town where the temperature dropped down to -20 degrees Celsius.

The mayor stated that the residents were provided with heaters and blankets. It was reported on 6 January that the consequences of the accident had been eliminated but the residents still complain about the absence of heat in their apartments.

They state that the temperature in the apartments is about seven degrees Celsius, and power outages occur frequently as many residents turn on heaters at the same time.
