The Ministry of Digital Transformation has open-sourced the code of the Diia app, Ukraine’s e-government platform, and other countries can now use it to create their own public service apps.

This has been reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

IT specialists and governments in other countries will now be able to study the logic of the app and use the code to create digitised public services based on it.

"IT specialists will be able to use the best solutions to create analogues of Diia and their own applications based on the open source. To do this, you will need to sign up for the public licence," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry explained that initially, in addition to the general code for the app’s server and mobile parts, they have added one document and one service to each to demonstrate the logic behind Diia's data handling. For this purpose, they chose a driving licence and a police clearance certificate.

The list of services and documents to be tested will be expanded in the future.

"The code does not contain access to registers. If you want to test the logic of Diia's operation, fictitious users with synthetic data have been uploaded to the test environment specifically for this purpose," the ministry said.

You can read more about the open-source Diia code and sign up to the public licence here.
