Ukrainian tennis player Svitolina confidently defeats opponent to reach Australian Open second round

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (27) has started the Australian Open 2025 with a victory.

Details: Svitolina defeated Romanian Sorana Cirstea (71) in the first round with a score of 6:4, 6:4.
The match lasted 1 hour and 33 minutes. Svitolina served two aces and converted three out of twelve break points. The Ukrainian had four double faults against her.

This was the fourth face-to-face meeting for the tennis players. Svitolina also won the previous three.
This is her 99th victory at the Grand Slam tournaments.
Svitolina also secured her 26th victory at the Australian Open, making her the clear leader in this category among all Ukrainian tennis players, regardless of gender – Andrii Medvedev has 13 wins on Australian courts.
