Russia launches overnight ballistic missile and drone attacks: air defences down 93 UAVs
The Russians attacked Ukraine with 141 drones on the night of 19-20 January. Ukraine’s air defence downed 93 drones and 47 decoy drones disappeared from radar, including two that returned to Russia-controlled territory.

Details: Starting at 19:00 on 19 January, the Russians launched 141 Shahed attack UAVs and decoy drones of various types from five directions: Millerovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia. They also fired an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Kursk Oblast targeting Sumy Oblast.
The attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine’s Air Force and the defence forces.
As of 08:00, the Air Force confirmed the downing of 93 Shahed attack drones and other UAVs within Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Donetsk oblasts.
Of the 47 Russian decoy drones that disappeared from radar (causing no adverse effects), two returned to Russian territory.
