Russia and US wrap-up 12-hour-long talks in Saudi Arabia, Russian news agencies report
The US and Russian delegations have concluded their talks held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, where they focused on ending Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Details: According to Russian propaganda channels, the meeting between the US and Russia lasted 12 hours, with breaks. A joint statement with its conclusions will be put out on 25 March.
The meeting, according to earlier reports, was taking place behind closed doors at the luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel in Riyadh. Russia was represented by Grigory Karasin, head of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council [the upper chamber of the Russian parliament], and Sergei Beseda, adviser to the director of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
Background:
- Earlier, the Kremlin revealed that the focus of discussions with the US delegation in Saudi Arabia was the renewal of the Black Sea Grain Initiative from which Russia withdrew in 2023.
- Prior to that, on 23 March, American and Ukrainian delegations held talks in Riyadh.
- Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier stated that the aim of these meetings was to "determine the parameters of the proposals for various ceasefire regimes currently under discussion".
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Ukrainian delegation will have another round of talks with the US delegation after the US finish their talks with Russian representatives.
