Russia launches over 130 aerial assets overnight: Ukrainian air defences destroy 13 missiles and 40 drones, 53 go off radar

Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Ukraine on the night of 5-6 April 2025, launching 23 air-to-surface, surface-to-surface and sea-to-surface missiles and 109 loitering munitions.

Details: A total of 132 Russian aerial assets have been detected and tracked over Ukraine:

  • Nine Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles (launched from Tu-95MS aircraft from the airspace of Russia's Saratov Oblast)
  • Eight Kalibr cruise missiles (launched from the Black Sea);
  • Six Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launched from Russia's Bryansk Oblast);
  • 109 Shahed-type loitering munitions and different types of decoy drones (launched from Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk in Russia and Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea).

Overall, 53 aerial targets are confirmed to have been shot down: six Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles; six Kalibr cruise missiles; one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 40 Shahed loitering munitions.

A further 53 drones have disappeared from radar.

The Ukrainian Air Force adds that the Russian attack has affected Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy and Mykolaiv oblasts.
