Drone kills collaborator in Russian-occupied Nova Kakhovka – occupation authorities

A Ukrainian drone has attacked Volodymyr Leontiev, a Russian accomplice in the city of Nova Kakhovka, according to Volodymyr Saldo, a collaborator and Russian-appointed puppet "head" of the temporarily occupied part of Kherson Oblast.

Quote: "Volodymyr Leontiev, Head of the Nova Kakhovka Council, has been injured this morning in an attack by an enemy Baba Yaga drone [the name used by the Russians and their accomplices for the Vampire drone – ed.]."

Details: According to Saldo, the Russian accomplice is currently in "a serious condition in hospital".

Updated: Saldo later said that Leontiev had died in hospital from fatal injuries.

For reference: Leontiev, 61, was appointed the puppet "head" of Nova Kakhovka by the Russians in April 2022, according to local news outlet Most. That same month, Ukraine served Leontiev with a notice of suspicion for collaboration.

In July 2022, the Ukrainian police also served him with a notice of suspicion for involvement in the abduction of journalist Oleh Baturin.

In May 2023, Leontiev claimed that an attempt had been made on his life.

In June 2025, he was additionally served with a notice of suspicion for abducting the mayor of Beryslav, Oleksandr Shapovalov.
