Czech elections: Former PM's populist party ahead, yet no parliamentary majority secured

As over 95% of votes have been counted in the Czech parliamentary elections, former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš's populist party is leading but has not secured an absolute majority in parliament.

Details: With over 95% of votes counted, former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš's populist ANO party has 35.4% of the vote, securing 84 seats in the 200-seat Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of parliament.

In second place is the centre-right ruling bloc Together with 22.7%.

STAN (Mayors and Independents) has 11%; the Pirate Party 8.6%; Tomio Okamura's populist Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) party 7.9%; Motorists 6.8%. The populist party Enough! (Stačilo!) has gained 4.4% and will not enter the new parliament.

With the current distribution of votes, Babiš's party will not be able to form a majority government even if it joins forces with the Motorists.
