Details: It is reported that the current limit is 30 litres of petrol and 70 litres of diesel per person. The channel also published a photo of a notice showing the restrictions.
Russian media outlets reported that residents have complained about rationing being introduced at some petrol stations, limiting the amount of fuel per person and prohibiting stocking up.
In some cases, drivers are reportedly not allowed to refuel more than 20-30 litres of petrol per car. Other stations have run out of 95-octane petrol and diesel, and some prohibit filling jerrycans altogether.
Background:
- A total of 20 regions of Russia and temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are experiencing fuel shortages after Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russian refineries.
- Since 24 September, all grades of petrol, including the most expensive A100, have completely disappeared from petrol stations in annexed Crimea.
- Earlier, Russian pro-government bots began pushing the narrative that there is no petrol shortage in Russia and that rising fuel prices are "normal".
- On 4 October, the Kirishi Oil Refinery, one of the largest in Russia, shut down its CDU-6 crude oil distillation unit – its most powerful – after a drone attack caused a fire.
- Since early August, over 20 major oil refineries across Russia have been struck by Ukrainian drones, plunging the country's fuel market into an unprecedented crisis.
