The BBC took into account all cases reported since August, even if the situation on the ground has now stabilised.

The attacks have affected every third oil refinery in Russia, according to The Moscow Times, an independent Amsterdam-based news outlet.

At least 14 attacks were recorded in August, eight in September and four more in the first ten days of October.

Reuters, Bloomberg and S&P Global Commodity Insights have found that at least ten companies, including export-oriented ones, were partially or completely shut down in August-September.

According to the BBC estimates, Ukrainian drones have attacked 21 of Russia's 38 largest refineries since January, which is 48% more than in the whole of 2024.
