The document was signed in Kyiv by First Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Aliona Shkrum and Deputy Permanent Representative of the UNDP in Ukraine Christoforos Politis.

Quote from Shkrum: "Energy independence is not only a strategic goal, but also an urgent need for recovery right now.

This partnership transforms global support into tangible, sustainable resilience at the level of hromadas." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: Shkrum said that the installation of renewable energy sources, including in frontline areas, will ensure continuity of services for the most vulnerable groups of citizens even in the event of power outages.

The UNDP representative emphasised that the agreement promotes a transition to green energy, allows for a quick move from plans to action, rebuilding the country in a more environmentally friendly way, supporting education and medicine, and making hromadas more resilient.

Background: The Norwegian government, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, has provided Ukraine with critically important energy equipment.
