Emergency power outages introduced across Ukraine

Emergency power outages have been introduced in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts on the evening of 14 October.

Details: "This evening, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk oblasts have gone into emergency shutdown," Kovalenko said.

DTEK, the largest private energy company in Ukraine, reported that emergency power cuts have also been introduced in Kyiv Oblast.

"Emergency power outages have been introduced in the Boryspil, Brovary and Obukhiv districts. Such an instruction was issued by Ukrenergo," DTEK said. [Ukrenergo is Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator – ed.]

Regional power distribution companies in Sumy and Kirovohrad oblasts have also reported emergency outages.

Updated at 18:26: According to the Ministry of Energy, emergency power outages have been introduced in Sumy, Kharkiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts, as well as partially in Kirovohrad, Kyiv and Cherkasy oblasts.

In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, only industrial consumers are being disconnected, while in Chernihiv Oblast, energy providers are currently implementing three stages of scheduled hourly outages.

Background: On the night of 13-14 October, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 96 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera and other types. Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed 69 UAVs, but 27 reached their targets.
