Quote: "We understand where to get about US$2 billion worth of gas, if we need it.
We expect that, in a very challenging situation, Ukraine must be ready to find US$2 billion worth of gas. We have found part of the tranches. Norway has provided a US$100 million grant and will allocate another tranche in January. Several other countries are providing appropriate grants. We have an agreement with our banks. So there is an understanding of where to get the money. And there is an understanding of where to get the gas."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has reached positive agreements with Slovakia, and Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk has agreements with energy companies in the United States.
"As for American LNG [liquified natural gas – ed.], there is an agreement: if we want it, it will come via Poland, through the Polish terminal. We can also take additional gas from Greece; we agreed on this with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
There is also an understanding with other countries; there are agreements. There is one with Azerbaijan as well. Everyone is working on this. From what I have seen, the gas issue will be resolved," Zelenskyy stated.
Background: The Naftogaz Group, Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company, wants to open additional credit lines in case rapid imports are needed due to Russian attacks.
