Trump and Xi Jinping to meet on 30 October – White House

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced during a briefing on Thursday that US President Donald Trump will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on Wednesday 30 October.

Details: Leavitt stated that the meeting will take place in the South Korean city of Busan on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

As part of his multi-day trip, the US President will also visit Malaysia and Japan, where he will hold separate bilateral meetings.

Background:

• The US President previously said he intends to speak with Chinese leader Xi Jinping to persuade him to stop buying oil from Russia.
• Trump also plans to visit China early next year.
