Details: Sources told CNN that Dmitriev, who is also the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), is expected to meet members of the Trump administration "to continue discussions about the US-Russia relationship".
The visit comes amid growing frustration in Washington over the Kremlin's refusal to end its war in Ukraine and after Trump announced that he had "cancelled" the planned summit with Putin.
Dmitriev, known as a long-standing Kremlin advocate of closer economic cooperation between Russia and the United States, has recently proposed building a "Trump-Putin" tunnel between Alaska and Russia's Far East.

- White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained at a Thursday briefing that the US has imposed sanctions on Russia's oil sector due to Russia's lack of interest in peace.
