Time to consider reinstating sanctions on Putin's special envoy – Ukraine's ambassador to US

The Ukrainian diplomatic corps is convinced that personal sanctions against Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and a member of the Kremlin's negotiation team, should be reinstated and strengthened.

Quote: "His actions and public statements are aimed at delaying the process, diluting the focus on ending the war and attracting more funding for Russian aggression and its sponsors."
Details: Stefanishyna noted that Russian propaganda repeatedly demonstrates "blatant lies and cynicism", so now, with Dmitriev arriving in the United States and spreading falsehoods, it is time to consider reinstating sanctions against him.
Quote: "Against the backdrop of ongoing attacks on Ukraine, which the whole world sees in real time, Kirill Dmitriev's statements in the US claiming that strikes on the energy sector have stopped should be a real red flag. Dmitriev has for years provided resource support to Putin's criminal regime, as he continues to do now."
Background:
- On 24 October, Dmitriev arrived in the United States for "official" talks after sanctions were imposed on the Russian oil sector and the Trump-Putin summit in Hungary was cancelled.
- Dmitriev claimed that Russia, the US and Ukraine are close to a diplomatic solution that would end the Russo-Ukrainian war.
- Dmitriev also stated that a solution to the war in Ukraine can be found "pretty quickly" if three issues that are important to Russia are taken into account.
