Quote: "The Flamingo has been used in combat. The Ruta has been used in combat. We are doing everything possible to ensure that this year we can trial not just one or two or three, but make a serious attempt. We are moving towards that. We believe we will succeed. We very much hope so, because our repeated uses have shown that effective results are possible."
Details: Zelenskyy also said that regarding European long-range weapons, Ukraine is using only Storm Shadows in sufficient quantity and a smaller number of SCALP missiles, as there are no other systems available.
He noted that Ukrainian-made weapons are used in 90-95% of long-range strikes.
Background:
- In early October, Zelenskyy confirmed the successful use of Neptune and Flamingo missiles in combination.
- Speaking about retaliatory strikes deep into Russian territory, the president noted that there was good news there too: a Ukrainian-made Ruta missile drone had for the first time struck a naval tower from a distance of over 250 km.
- On 21 August, Zelenskyy announced that the Flamingo was set to go into mass production in a few months.
