Details: This means Hungary can continue to buy oil and gas from Russia.

Orbán said this will "protect lower utility bills" and that "Hungary will continue to have the lowest energy prices".

Although Donald Trump generally opposes other countries buying Russian energy, Orbán said he had received approval on this matter from the US president behind closed doors.

Quote: "We are also developing new forms of US-Hungarian financial cooperation to strengthen and maintain Hungarian financial stability."

Details: Orbán also spoke about cooperation in the space and defence industries, stating that this will give Hungary access to the most advanced defence weapons, which had previously been "blocked by the Biden administration".

Background: Earlier, media reports indicated that Trump had said he was considering exempting Hungary from sanctions on Russian oil and gas.
