Details: Mathernová posted her message on Facebook and attached a photograph showing a destroyed apartment block in Ternopil.
The ambassador wrote that it had been quiet in Kyiv, but in Chernihiv Oblast, a drone struck a house, in Kharkiv, numerous UAVs hit residential areas and in Ukraine's west, there were many strikes on energy facilities. In total, Russia used 470 UAVs and 48 missiles against Ukraine.
"Ternopil is still witnessing real hell. Nine people are already confirmed dead, dozens injured. [...] This is the reality of Russian terror deliberately targeting civilians. This is not a fight against the army. This is an attempt to erase people and their lives," the ambassador wrote.
"Ukraine is under constant fire. Civilians are dying, the energy system is being damaged, winter is approaching. And yet Ukraine continues to fight – for all of us. My heart goes out to all families and loved ones of all people killed in last night's attack," Mathernová added.
Background:
- Romania has stated that it scrambled fighter jets during the overnight Russian attack on Ukraine and that a drone violated the airspace of Romania and Moldova. Moldova is currently verifying this information.
- Poland also scrambled aircraft but has not reported any airspace violations.
