US-supplied F-16 fighters have intercepted over 1,300 Russian assets and hit more than 300 ground targets in over a year of operations in Ukrainian airspace. The Ukrainian Air Force had stressed the need to replenish missile stocks for these aircraft.

Quote: "By applying their own innovative tactics in both air-to-air and air-defence operations, Ukrainian crews continue to deliver consistently strong results in repelling enemy attacks. The F-16 alone is credited with intercepting more than 1,300 airborne threats. During today's attack, F-16 and Mirage 2000 pilots intercepted and shot down at least 10 Russian cruise missiles."

Details: The Air Force said that, in addition to their air defence duties, F-16s are actively used for close air support. Ukrainian pilots have hit more than 300 ground targets, destroying hundreds of Russian vehicles, command posts, UAV control centres, ammunition depots and key elements of Russia's logistics.

Quote: "Every day, F-16 pilots and ground crews operate in extremely demanding, high-risk conditions. And one thing remains on everyone's mind: uninterrupted and timely delivery of air-launched weapons from our Western partners. Because without a sufficient supply of bombs and missiles, even the F-16 cannot secure the victory Ukraine needs."

For reference: F-16 fighter jets entered Ukrainian airspace in August 2024, marking a major boost to the Air Force's capabilities. The Ukrainian Air Force Command noted that pilots quickly mastered the new aircraft and are using them effectively against the aggressor.
