Details: Støre, who is currently taking part in the G20 summit in South Africa, said that the European countries attending the summit will present a European proposal in response to US President Donald Trump's "peace plan" for Ukraine.

"First of all, for a country to give up territories it controls practically at the negotiating table goes against Ukraine's constitution," he said.

He added that the "peace plan" could still serve as a starting point for a ceasefire and further negotiations, which Ukraine had previously viewed positively.

"This opportunity needs to be used, but for that to happen, Europeans must unite and create a counterbalance in the areas where this proposal is unlikely to be accepted," Støre said.
