Zelenskyy names delegates for talks with US and Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree establishing a Ukrainian delegation to take part in negotiations with the United States and other international partners as well as representatives of the Russian Federation.

Details: Andrii Yermak, Head of the President's Office, has been appointed to lead the delegation.

The delegation also includes Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (NSDC), and his deputy Yevhenii Ostrianskyi; Kyrylo Budanov, Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU); Andrii Hnatov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine; Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service; Serhii Kyslytsia, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs; Oleksandr Poklad, Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU); and Oleksandr Bevz, an adviser to Yermak.

Zelenskyy, in agreement with the head of the delegation, authorised its members to make changes to the delegation's team and instructed the Cabinet of Ministers (Ukrainian government) to ensure funding for their expenses.

  • On the night of 20-21 November, Axios published the full list of points in the new US "peace plan" presented to Ukraine. It envisages multiple concessions to Russia.
  • It was reported earlier that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may hold talks with his US counterpart Donald Trump about the "peace plan" next week.
  • A group of European leaders is reportedly working on an alternative peace plan that offers terms that are fairer for Ukraine.
  • Reuters reported, citing sources, that US officials have threatened to stop supplying weapons and intelligence to Ukraine in order to secure Kyiv's agreement to the US "peace plan".
