The IAEA said the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was reconnected to a 330 kV power line after a half hour outage, but the 750 kV line remains disconnected.

On the night of 5-6 December 2025, the Russian forces again attacked energy infrastructure in several oblasts of Ukraine, seriously damaging equipment at thermal power plants.

Background:

  • The volume of projected power consumption restrictions has had to be increased due to a large-scale Russian attack on 6 December.
  • The protective shelter at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, built to contain radioactive material from the 1986 disaster, can no longer perform its main safety function after damage caused by a drone.
