Last month, the two countries held talks on missile defence and strategic stability and in August, conducted artillery and anti-submarine exercises in the Sea of Japan.

As Reuters notes, Russia and China signed a "no-limits" strategic partnership agreement shortly before Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine, committing to regular military exercises to practice coordination between their armed forces.

Quote from Reuters: "Both countries have expressed concern over US President Donald Trump's plans to build a 'golden dome' missile shield and his stated intention to resume nuclear weapons testing after a break of more than 30 years."
