Ukrainian authorities preparing decisions to reduce power cuts by redistributing consumption

The Ukrainian government has been working on reducing the duration of power cuts across the country, as three queues of hourly power outage schedules are currently being applied. Details: "We are preparing a number of government decisions to redistribute consumption and direct electricity to household consumers," Svyrydenko reported following a coordination meeting attended by Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba, acting Energy Minister Artem Nekrasov, Deputy Head of the President's Office Viktor Mykyta, and Vitalii Zaichenko, Head of Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator.

Background:

• In recent days, power outage schedules have been applied under which electricity may be cut off for 12 to 16 hours.
• On 9 December, measures to limit electricity consumption are being applied in all regions of Ukraine.
• When one queue of outage schedules is applied, there are four hours of restrictions per day; two queues mean eight hours of restrictions; three queues mean 12 hours of restrictions; and four queues mean more than 12 hours of restrictions.
