US lifts sanctions on Belarusian potash

US President's Special Envoy to Belarus John Coale has said that the United States has lifted sanctions on Belarusian potash.

Details: Talks between Belarusian self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko and the US special envoy continued on Saturday 13 December.

Quote: "Acting on President Trump's instructions, the US is lifting sanctions on potash. I believe this is a very good step by the US for Belarus. We are lifting them as of now."

More details: Coale has noted that discussions on sanctions will continue.

Quote: "As relations between the two countries normalise, more sanctions will be lifted."

More details: Coale has also expressed hope that in the future the two sides will reach a point where there are no sanctions at all.
