Ending the war in Ukraine depends on Trump and US – Belarusian leader

Self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko believes that ending Russia's war against Ukraine "depends on the position of Trump and the United States of America".

He is a man with a strong personality, sometimes impulsive. The key thing is that he does not just give up on it all, throw up his hands and step aside. If he moves forward persistently in this direction, then there will be a result. The Europeans have no reason to make a fuss here."

Details: Answering the question "How can Zelenskyy and Putin achieve peace?", Lukashenko said: "I think the situation that's developing… will push them towards peace."

He noted that in the event of escalation, it "won't end well" for Russia, as "even more people" would be drawn into the war.

Lukashenko also said that "any war ends in peace".

Quote: "This war will also end in peace too. The sooner it does, the fewer people will die."

Details: Lukashenko believes that "Zelenskyy must understand, and does understand, that this could end with Ukraine no longer existing".

The self-proclaimed Belarusian president also mentioned guarantees, saying that he knows what guarantees Russia is seeking.

Quote: "There must be guarantees. Russia wants guarantees so that this is forever. I know this. Russia wants to conclude such a peace treaty that war will never start again. Ukraine is also interested in this. Trump is ready to act as a guarantor of this. Everything is there. So we need to speed things up."

"Therefore, the main thing today is to stop the fighting so that people do not die. If people stop dying, then sit down and negotiate about anything. About territory and other things as well."

"We need to make it so that no one is wary that we have stopped the conflict... To ensure that Russia has no concerns in this regard, everything must be done so that Ukraine and its armed forces do not rearm during this time and so that the Americans, together with the Europeans, do not supply weapons there."

Details: Lukashenko added that Trump is exerting more pressure on Zelenskyy over a "peace deal".

Quote: "Because the Europeans have got involved in this and they are whispering in his ear that they will help Zelenskyy to fight. They will not help with anything. They do not have the resources that the US has. And if the Americans step aside from this, escalation will be unavoidable. And then Macron, Merz and Starmer will understand their mistake."
