Battlefield sees surge in clashes: Ukrainian forces have repelled 278 Russian attacks in one day – Ukraine's General Staff
The Russians have escalated pressure along the entire line of contact over the past 24 hours. Ukrainian defenders have repelled 278 Russian attacks, which is the highest number of Russian assaults in a single day since at least the beginning of December.

Quote: "A total of 278 combat clashes have been recorded over the past day. Yesterday [17 December], the enemy conducted 74 airstrikes, dropping 179 guided bombs, conducted 3,729 attacks, 75 of which were from multiple-launch rocket systems, and deployed 3,523 kamikaze drones."
Details: On the North Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk fronts, Ukrainian defenders repelled 15 Russian attacks. The Russians conducted 3 airstrikes, dropping 8 guided bombs, and conducted 138 attacks, 8 of which were from multiple-launch rocket systems.
On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, Ukrainian forces repelled nine attacks near the settlements of Prylipka and Synelnykove and towards Izbytske, Obukhivka and Kolodiazne.
On the Kupiansk front, 24 Russian attacks occurred towards the settlements of Kupiansk, Petropavlivka, Kucherivka, Pishchane, Novoplatonivka, Holubivka and Nova Kruhliakivka.
On the Lyman front, the Russians conducted 27 attacks near the village of Torske and towards Lyman, Stepove, Korovii Yar, Zarichne, Drobysheve, Novoselivka, Stavky and Hlushchenkove.
On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian forces repelled six attacks near the settlements of Siversk and Serebrianka and towards Pazeno.
On the Kramatorsk front, the Russians mounted one attack on Ukrainian positions near the village of Bondarne.
On the Kostiantynivka front, the Russians conducted 24 attacks near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar and Yablunivka and towards Sofiivka and Kostiantynivka.
On the Pokrovsk front, Ukrainian forces repelled 82 Russian assaults near the settlements of Kotlyne, Udachne and Pokrovsk and towards Rivne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Hryshyne, Zvirove, Serhiivka, Novopavlivka, Filiia, Nove Shakhove, Dorozhnie, Sukhetske, Vilne and Ivanivka.
On the Oleksandrivka front, the Russians conducted 20 attacks near the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Sichneve, Krasnohirske, Zlahoda and Rybne and towards Ivanivka, Iskra, Oleksandrohrad, Verbove and Pryvilne.
On the Huliaipole front, Ukrainian forces repelled 28 Russian attacks near the village of Solodke and towards Varvarivka and Huliaipole.
On the Orikhiv front, the Russians conducted eight attacks near the settlements of Shcherbaky and Stepove and towards Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka and Prymorske.
