Norway to buy €267m worth of US-made weapons for Ukraine

Norway will finance another batch of US weapons for Ukraine, allocating more than €267 million.

Details: At a briefing on Wednesday 17 December, Støre said that Norway will allocate NOK 3.2 billion – more than €267.5 million – for a new package of US-made weapons for Ukraine.
The package consists of air defence missiles as well as weapons and ammunition for F-16 fighter jets.
Støre said that Norway will procure part of this equipment from the United States under the established framework for supporting Ukraine.
Background:
- Speaking after the 32nd meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (the Ramstein format) on 16 December, Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal, outlined assistance pledges from around a dozen Ukrainian partners – Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Denmark and others.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that US$15 billion will be needed in 2026 to purchase US weapons required by Ukraine.
