Davyd Arakhamia, leader of the Servant of the People party, the ruling parliamentary faction, says there is zero possibility of a "good peace deal" with Russia; the choice is between a very bad deal or no deal at all and the continuation of the war.

Quote: "We realise – everyone who thinks, although there are many people who still believe that we should be insisting on some fantastical terms for a deal – that it will either be bad, or very bad, or there will be no deal at all."

Details: Asked about the likelihood of a deal being reached at this stage of the talks, Arakhamia said that with the current pressure being exerted by the Americans – although there is more of it on Ukraine than on Russia – there is a chance, but "there will be no chance of a deal unless the Americans are involved".

Arakhamia added that Ukraine needs security guarantees and it will not agree to give up Donetsk Oblast to the Russians. At the same time, he described the equivalent of NATO Article 5 as "weak".

Background: In recent days, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed that the Ukrainian authorities cannot assume that the current peace process might fail.
