Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has said that he wants to be treated with respect so that there will be no more "special military operations", as Russian authorities refer to the war against Ukraine.

Details: He also referred to what he claimed was NATO's expansion: "If you stop deceiving us, as you did with NATO's eastward expansion". Putin added that NATO had "ignored Russia's security interests".

"They say that we are going to attack Europe! What nonsense is that?! This is done for domestic political reasons, to create the image of Russia as an enemy," Putin said.

The Russian leader also claimed he was ready to work with the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. "But on equal footing, with mutual respect. Everyone would benefit from that," he said.

Background: Earlier, Putin said he currently saw no readiness on Ukraine's part to end the war launched by Russia, because Kyiv did not want to discuss territories. Nevertheless, he noted that there were nevertheless "some signals" of Ukraine's willingness to engage in dialogue.
