Two people killed and energy infrastructure damaged in Russian attacks on Chernihiv Oblast on Christmas Eve – photos

Russian drone attacks on Chernihiv Oblast on 24 December killed two people, damaged energy facilities and hit industrial sites.

The Russians have again struck at energy facilities and everyday life.
There have been several strikes on Chernihiv. A Geran [drone] has hit one of the businesses. An administrative building, a garage, cars and a passenger bus have been damaged."

Details: A strike drone also hit an apartment in an eight-storey building, setting fire to a home on the fifth floor and cars parked nearby. Windows were blown out in neighbouring buildings, including an educational institution.
There were several Geran drone hits on energy facilities, leaving tens of thousands of consumers without power.

In the Chernihiv district, a Geran drone struck a gardening association, damaging windows in several houses.
In a village in the Snovsk hromada, an FPV drone hit an energy facility, leaving several settlements without electricity. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Pavlo Miroshnychenko said that a Russian drone struck a lorry in one village in the hromada during the day. The driver of a timber truck, a 62-year-old local man, was killed.

Miroshnychenko added that in the evening, the Russian forces launched a large-scale strike on a food industry site in the Snovsk area, causing heavy damage. A 37-year-old woman suffered minor injuries.

An FPV drone also hit a civilian car in a village in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district, killing a 39-year-old male driver. A female passenger was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition under medical supervision.

A Russian Molniya drone hit a former hotel in the city of Semenivka.
