Russian drone hits apartment block in Chernihiv, killing and injuring civilians

Russian drones have hit the city of Chernihiv, striking a five-storey residential building, leaving eight people injured and killing one person. A critical infrastructure facility has also come under attack.

The city council added that damage has been recorded on the second floor. A flat caught fire. Emergency services are working at the scene.

Bryzhynskyi later reported that one person was killed. Five people were injured, including a child.

He added that Russia also attacked a critical infrastructure facility.

Updated: Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Oblast State Administration, reported later that the deceased was an 80-year-old woman, and eight other people had been injured, three of them seriously.

Chaus said that search and rescue operations were ongoing, firefighters were extinguishing the fire, and all relevant services and volunteers were working. An invincibility centre had been set up at the site. [Invincibility centres are heated premises stocked with food and power banks to assist residents facing hardships due to power cuts – ed.]
