Mandatory evacuation has been announced in Chernihiv Oblast for residents of 14 border villages, with the process to be completed within 30 days.

Quote: "At the Defence Council meeting, a decision was taken to introduce mandatory evacuation from 14 border villages. This concerns the Novhorod-Siverskyi, Semenivka, Snovsk and Horodnia hromadas.

The border area is under daily fire. Despite the real threat, around 300 people are still living there." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Details: Chaus said the decision was made at the request of the military.

The evacuation must be completed within 30 days.

Residents of the 14 settlements will be informed of assembly points.

Chaus added that all necessary services have been involved in the process, with dedicated evacuation routes and transport in place. Accommodation for evacuees is mandatory, with guaranteed temporary housing available.

He also noted that in 2025, just over 1,400 residents have already left the oblast's border areas.
