Parcels worth millions of hryvnias destroyed in Russian attack on Odesa Oblast

During a Russian attack on Odesa Oblast on the night of 30-31 December, debris from a Russian drone fell into the vehicle yard of a distribution centre belonging to Nova Poshta (Nova Post), Ukraine's largest private delivery company.

Details: The company said all the employees were in shelters at the time of the attack and no one was hurt. However, a lorry trailer containing 110 parcels with a total declared value of UAH 2.3 million (about US$54,000) caught fire. All the parcels were destroyed.
Nova Poshta has pledged to compensate its customers in full for the value of the lost parcels and has already begun contacting senders and recipients about reimbursement.
Background:
- On the night of 30-31 December, Russian forces carried out a large-scale drone attack on Odesa and the surrounding region that left parts of the city without electricity, water or heating. Six people were injured in the attack.
- The Russians once again targeted energy infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, with two energy facilities belonging to DTEK, Ukraine's largest private energy company, coming under fire.
