Details: The ministry said that the delivery of the additional systems became possible thanks to recent agreements with the German government.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the Patriot system is capable of engaging a wide range of aerial targets, including aerodynamic and ballistic ones, as well as high-speed threats. The system's radar enables the simultaneous detection and tracking of a large number of targets, while interceptors – including PAC-3 modifications – are used to destroy targets through direct hit-to-kill guidance, which is crucial for missile defence.
The defence ministry noted that a single Patriot battery can detect up to 100 aerial targets and track several of them simultaneously. Automated operating modes significantly reduce response time to threats. The system is capable of engaging aerial targets at altitudes of up to 24 km and at ranges of up to 160 km, providing coverage over large areas.
Quote: "Currently, Patriot air defence systems are protecting Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure. They are reducing damage from enemy cruise and ballistic missile strikes against energy facilities and civilian targets."
Background: On 17 December, Ukraine's Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the signing of a number of important agreements with German partners totalling more than €1.2 billion.
