Russians launched nearly 100 assaults on first day of new year – Ukraine's General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has recorded 98 combat clashes with Russian troops over the course of 1 January.

Details: It was reported that the Russians carried out one missile strike and 51 air strikes on Thursday, using one missile and dropping 151 guided aerial bombs. In addition, they conducted 3,508 attacks, including 49 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 6,237 kamikaze drones for strikes.

Air strikes hit settlements in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's aircraft and Rocket Forces and Artillery units hit four clusters of Russians and two command posts belonging to the Russian forces over the past day.

The highest number of Russian assaults was recorded on the Pokrovsk front: Ukrainian defenders stopped 23 assault actions by Russian forces near eight settlements.

On the South Slobozhanshchyna front, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions three times in the areas of two settlements.

On the Kupiansk front, no offensive actions by Russian forces were recorded.

On the Lyman front, Russian forces attacked 15 times, trying to break through the Ukrainian defence near seven settlements.

On the Sloviansk front, Ukrainian troops stopped two offensive actions by Russian forces in the areas of three settlements.

On the Kramatorsk front, Russian forces have not conducted offensive actions since the beginning of the day.

On the Kostiantynivka front, Russian forces carried out 15 attacks near six settlements.

On the Oleksandrivka front, Russian forces carried out 12 attacks in the vicinity of six settlements.

On the Huliaipole front, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 14 attempts by Russian forces to advance near three settlements.

On the Orikhiv front, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian unit positions twice.

On the Prydniprovske front, Ukrainian units repelled two attacks by Russian forces in the direction of the Antonivka Bridge.

On the Volyn and Polissia fronts, there is no evidence of any offensive Russian groups being formed in the area.
