Russia attacks energy facilities in two Ukrainian oblasts on 2 January

Russian occupying forces struck energy infrastructure in Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv oblasts on the night of 1-2 January 2026.

Details: As of the morning following the attacks, consumers remain without power in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, including in the city of Zaporizhzhia, as well as in other frontline regions.

In the meantime, repair work is ongoing in Odesa and Kyiv oblasts to fix equipment previously damaged by Russian attacks. In Odesa Oblast, more than 11,000 consumers remain without electricity following earlier strikes.

In addition, 27 settlements in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and 17 settlements in Lviv Oblast have been left without power due to adverse weather conditions.

Background: On 2 January, electricity capacity restriction schedules are in effect across all regions of Ukraine for industrial consumers. Rolling power outages will also be in effect in most oblasts.
